On twists: The Sixth Sense is essentially a ripoff of an idea from Carnival of Souls--a far scarier film.
The Others is similar, but it is really stylishly made, far better than Shyamalan's I think, and it has a great performance by Kidman. The real thrill is wondering if she is crazy or not, or, even if the ghosts are real, if she's still crazy...
On Planet of the Apes--you mean the original? Because by the time of the remake, everyone knew the twist (the ones who didn't read Boulle's novel, that is).

I love "The Others", too. It's the scariest film I've seen lately. And it's well-made too.
Re. Planet of the Apes, I'm referring to the original. I'm one of the few who didn't read the book. Now you know why I was blown away by the ending. I didn't see the remake.
Re. Mario O'Hara, I never got to see many of his films. The only one which really made an impression on me was "Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos".Your post on coming-of-age films sparked my interest in his films though. BTW, the most memorable local coming-of-age film for me is Peque Gallaga's "Oro Plata Mata".
